Iran’s short film ‘Year of the Dog’ has been set to compete at Poland’s International Film Festival ZOOM – ZBLIZENIA scheduled for next February.
Directed by Ramin Kupai, ‘Year of the Dog’ has been named as one of the films qualified to take part at the short fiction film competition of the 22nd edition of the Polish event.
‘Are You Volleyball?’, written and directed by Iranian director Mohammad Bakhshi, will also participate in the same section.
‘Are You Volleyball?’ features a group of Arabic-speaking asylum seekers who try to make their way to the border of an English speaking country.
They get into a conflict with border guards every day up until a deaf-mute child becomes a catalyst for better communication between the two sides.
“International Film Festival ZOOM - ZBLIZENIA is one of the largest and most important independent cinema festivals in Poland,” the official website of the event reads.
The gala is aimed “to present the author's cinema, ambitious, high artistic value, moving independent and original subject matter, as well as promotion of independent film art.”
The 22nd edition of the IFF ZOOM – ZBLIZENIA will be held in the Polish city of Jelenia Gora on February 18-24, 2019.
